[ Bite-sized cubes, so yummy! ]
Today I’m sharing some benefits of one of my FAVORITE fruits, ever ⇢ DRAGON FRUIT.
This fruit is insane—it’s so yummy, so pretty, AND it’s full of benefits.
What benefits? Glad you asked!
+ First up, antioxidants. They’re full of vitamin C—a small dragon fruit will provide you with almost 35% of the recommended daily intake of Vitamin C. Vitamin C strengthens your immune system. It helps your body get rid of toxins, heal cells, and cope with stress. It’s also an important antioxidant for overall health and clear, beautiful skin ( so is water! )
+ Next up… FIBER. According to this source, it can be used as a natural remedy for constipation.—”Dragon fruit seeds, in particular, appear to have strong laxative properties.” ( Don’t worry, they’re not TOO strong. ; ) ) One of the nutrients that contributes to this is fiber.
+ Keeping your skin tight & youthful—you can thank all the antioxidants & vitamins!
+ Protecting your hair color—this one isn’t about eating it. According to this source, if you put the juice of a dragon fruit or a conditioner containing it on your scalp, it can help protect your chemically treated or colored hair. Pretty cool, right?
+ It’s anti-inflammatory and helps decrease joint pain.
+ On top of all that, it’s low in cholesterol, rich in vitamin B1, B2, and B3, and minerals such as iron ( it provides more than 10% of your recommended daily intake ) and calcium, the seeds are high in omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids, AND it’s only 60 calories.
YUM! I’m a super fan.
[ My favorite way to eat dragon fruit ⇢ round slices… Dragon fruit “cookies” ; ) ]
I know some people make smoothies or ice cream with it… Sounds delicious, but I like to eat it piece by piece & savor it. I told you, I’m obsessed.
I like to slice them into circles, peel them, and eat them like cookies. ( LOL )
HALLOWEEN COSTUME IDEA? Dragon fruit cookie monster…?
Sometimes I cut them into cubes. How do you eat your dragon fruit? Show me on Instagram, so I can take a peek!
