Instagrammable summer swag

Summer is hands down my favorite season & it’s always been, so this collage was super fun to put together.

I’m jumping the gun a little bit…

But having spent the past few weekends in Palm Springs, Miami, & San Diego ( I know, such a rough life ; ) lol ) I feel like summer’s basically here.

It’s pretty warm here in the Bay Area, but definitely not like it was in Miami…

I was dripping sweat after walking 1/2 mile in Miami.

But I loveeee it there. It’s so pretty.

Anyways, these item scream summer—& they’re very “Insta-worthy”.

If you’ve never said that before I don’t believe you ; )

Kidding… Kind of.

Side note: if you sell consumer products definitely consider how your products & / or packaging will look when photographed by an everyday consumer. It might sound silly, but creating product & / or packaging thats “Instagrammable” ( & / or plays to current trends on Instagram ) is a really smart business move because it encourages consumers to snap & share photos of your product, which is basically free marketing for your business. So consider it.

Okay, back to these items… AREN’T THEY SO CUTE??

A pink flamingo looks great in blue water because it POPS! Take a look here: @bikinist.

I love this towel because it reminds me of those really cute Santorini photos I always see on Instagram. It’s very chic, which I love.

We took these cameras to two of my friends’ bachelorette parties ( part of the reason why I’ve been traveling so many weekends ) & they were so much fun. You can take polaroids with each other and even do a flat lay with them ( I know how I sound & I’m okay with it lol )

These cameras are super fun!

I’d much rather eat homemade popsicles than those sugar-filled ones you can find in stores. Honestly, I think homemade popsicles taste better and they can be way more healthy than the store bought ones, so I’m totally game to make my own. Here’s a recipe I love, that’s super quick & easy!

I love these molds because they’re very summer-y.

Which ones your favorite: pineapple or watermelon?

I love tropical plants so this beach towel, to me, is perfect! Plus, I love the round beach towel trend that’s going on right now.

These are so cute & they’re perfect for summer cocktails—or your Instagram ; )

I typically use glass but plastic cups are great when you’re at the pool. I like this one because of its colors. It also comes in a taller style, which is ideal for mixed drinks ; )

Alright, what are you guys getting for summer?

Bita

4th of July Style Vibes

Fourth of July Style Vibes_joyfetti.com

What do you have planned for the 4th?

Hopefully I’ll be sipping some sangria in a bikini, and enjoying some shrimp ceviche & BBQ. Style-wise I’ll keep it simple with subtle hints of red, white & blue.

Here are a few looks I’m loving:

WHITE LACE UP PLUNGING BODYSUIT

How insane is the detail and plunging neckline on this bodysuit? I’M OBSESSED! Pair this with a high-waisted maxi skirt and baby blue nails ( or red nails, if you prefer ) & you’re golden.

NAVY FRANKIE’S BIKINIS TOP & BOTTOM

Last year I shared an American Flag bikini with you, but like I said, I’m going with SUBTLE this year ( LOL ), so this navy bikini is perfect! I love the detail on the top, and the bottoms have a little stitch down the middle in the back, which gives it a better fit, especially when you’re swimming.

If you’re going to a pool party, you HAVE TO check out this pool float. I feel like it goes with our theme of patriotic, yet subtle—it has the right colors… ; )

MAROON TIE DYE MUMU SARONG

Red tie-dye? YES! If you’re going to a pool party, I love the idea of wearing a sarong because you can wear with your bikini top—how great is that? So effortless & chic.

BABY BLUE STRIPPED WRAP DRESS

This is SO cute & you can literally throw it on & go. I love the deep v!

NAVY STRIPPED TIE-SIDE TANK TOP

I’m obsessed with stripes in general… But they’re also perfect for 4th of July. I’d pair these with cute cut-off shorts and aviators. Simple, comfy, cute!

Don’t forget to stay hydrated with a cute BKR bottle. This red / white heart one is perfect for the 4th.

Bita

Airbrush Tanning: There’s No Such Thing as an “Organic” Spray Tan

Airbrush Tanning_There's No Such Thing as an %22Organic%22 Spray Tan_joyfetti.com

HI GUYS!

By now you probably know I always ( ALWAYS! ) read the ingredients on packages and buy organic produce whenever possible ( especially if it doesn’t have a peel! )

So when I started seeing “organic sunless tanning” all over Instagram it got my attention… & not just because I work in the industry—Evolv Tan ( the only heated airbrush tanning system in the world ) is a JOY Consulting Co. client—BUT, because I’ve had my fair share of spray tans & I equate “organic” with being more healthy… & I think a lot of people do, which is why some brands in the tanning industry are using the term. But they’re doing so wrongfully… Keep reading.

I researched “organic” tanning & what I found was really disappointing.

There’s no such thing as an organic spray tan.

This news release from Ecocert sums it up perfectly. Here are a few statements from the release:

“Ecocert does NOT certify ‘organic’ DHA (Dihydroxyacetone)”

&

“any representation by a seller of tanning products that they use
‘Eco Certified (Eco-Cert) organic DHA’,
‘Organic Ecocert-certified DHA’
or other similar wording is
false and misleading to the consumer.”

YEAH. It is…

To put it bluntly, there’s no such thing as organic DHA, at least, not YET… & all these tanning companies that claim to be organic, contain DHA.

In case you’re wondering, I’m not getting paid to share this and it wasn’t requested by my client. I’m sharing this with you because it’s relevant… And it pisses me off. ( Let’s keep it blunt, shall we? )

[ BKR water bottle | top ( similar ) | maxi skirt ( similar ) | Ray-Ban aviators ]

I hate when advertisers market unhealthy foods ( like cereal bars and snacks ) as health foods. And to me, this is the same marketing stunt, applied to beauty. And it’s not just tanning… We see it throughout the beauty and skincare industry. In a recent Refashion podcast, the founder of Fjordlife, Brittany Haavalsrud, shared just how unregulated the entire beauty industry is ⇢ a brand can market their product as natural as long as the product contains ONE natural ingredient—& that could be water… WHAT!?

Ridiculous, right? It’s absolutely nuts.

I’m not a fan of being lied to ( who is? ), so when I see a salon or airbrush solution marketing itself as being “organic” it’s a big turn-off, to me. What’s your take on this? I’d love to hear…

Activated Charcoal Soap… What It Is & Why You Need to Try It

Activated Charcoal Soap_What it is, Why You Need It_Yes To_joyfetti.com

Hi Guys,

If you’re on Instagram, you know activated charcoal is all the rage… Charcoal lemonade… Charcoal soap… Charcoal pills… Charcoal toothpaste. It’s everywhere; it’s in everything.

So! I gave it a try, starting with the soap.

My friend at Yes To shared it with me a while ago, along with the Grapefruit Toning Mist I’m OBSESSED with, and it quickly became a favorite.

Best part about it? ( Not really, but it’s cool… ) It doesn’t look girly in my boyfriend’s shower ( LOL ), unlike my razor… ; )

But really, the best part about it is it feels really soft & nourishing for my skin—AND ( !!! ), IT IS. ( Plus the suds are a little black, which is cool and different. )

If you’re not familiar with activated charcoal here’s a bit about it
( & it’s crazy benefits! )

+ It’s a specially processed form of carbon.

+ It’s been used to cure diseases and relieve pain for thousands of years:

“Ancient Egyptians are believed to have used it as a poultice to keep wounds clean; Hindu documents from 450 B.C. discuss charcoal for water filtration. In the 18th century, charcoal was studied by chemists and pharmacists, who were interested in its ability to protect the human body from toxins. Activated carbon is still used today in water filters and as a poison antidote.”

+ Charcoal powder ( which is used in charcoal soap ) absorbs toxins, impurities and excess oil by penetrating deep into our pores. ( hint, hint—an activated charcoal drink could help w/ your hangover )

+ It gently exfoliates skin without leaving residue.

+ Its anti-bacterial and anti-fungal, which means it’s ideal for those of us who struggle with acne, psoriasis and/or eczema.

+ When in comes in contact with water, charcoal powder releases beneficial minerals, such as CALCIUM, POTASSIUM, & MAGNESIUM, creating a soothing, relaxing hot spring-water like effect. Yes! Yes! YES!

Activated Charcoal Soap_What it is, Why You Need It_Yes To_Label_joyfetti.com

I tried Yes To Tomatoes Activated Charcoal Bar Soap ( & loved it! ) but you can make charcoal soap at home, if you’d like. Here’s a DIY recipe you can follow.

BTW—does making soap totally remind you of slumber parties in elementary school? ( It totally does for me! ) All the girls in my 5th grade class & I would have sleepovers with just the girls before our birthday parties ( which included the guys ) and we ALWAYS did a craft activity at night—& of course, we followed that with Truth or Dare… LOL.

Any who… Next up! I want to try charcoal ice cream. It exists! Have you tried it? Tell me allllllll about it if you have. Please? : ) Was it yummy?

Bita

On a related note ⇢ if you’re taking prescription medications or supplements, consult with your doctor before drinking activated charcoal or taking activated charcoal pills as they could interfere with your prescription medications or supplements.

What to Pack for Punta Cana

What to Pack for Punta Cana, Dominican Republic_joyfetti.com

HI GUYS!

I hope you enjoyed your weekend. We BBQ’d a little & took Minty into the pool for the FIRST time ( exciting! )—there’s a short clip of her in the pool on her Instagram so if you missed it on Snapchatcheck it out.

I also put together this “what to pack for Punta Cana list.” I spent 5 days in DR a few weeks ago, and COMPLETELY overpacked ( x10 )…

There were 6 of us on the trip, and I was the only one who checked a bag. AND, I still carried more onto the plane than anyone else. It was THAT bad.

But… Now that I know what it’s like to spend a few days at a resort in DR, I’m sharing my tips with you.

ALSO, if you have general packing tips, please share! I need your help. LOL, THANK YOU!

Okay, here’s what to pack:

Bikinis ( lots of them )

You basically live in your bikini all day ( or at least we did ) so bring plenty. We’re off to a good start, aren’t we? HA! ; )

Baby doll dresses / strapless cover-ups

… To throw on top of your bikini. These are super easy and lightweight, which is perfect for DR. The weather’s really hot & you’ll be in your bikini most of the time, so stick with outfits that aren’t too fussy.

Maxi skirts & dresses

I love these for nighttime & dinner.

Crop tops

… To wear with your maxi skirt.  ( A maxi skirt + crop top is one of my favorite looks for spring / summer, in general! )

Flip flops

YES! So easy—slip them on and go. I recommend bringing one for the pool and another pair like these for nighttime.

Sunnies

Did I mention it’s hot there? ; ) Take your sunnies.

A mophie…

I never used a mophie ( much ) before this trip, but now I’m in love! Take one with you to keep your phone charged all day.

Dainty jewelry ( always )

Dainty jewelry is always a good idea. Plus it’s lightweight, which makes it easy to wear in the heat.

Sunscreen + beauty / skincare

Don’t go without sunscreen, OBVIOUSLY!

Other items I recommend…

+ aloe vera ⇢ I SLATHERED sunscreen on my face, multiple times, and still got a little burnt. Take aloe vera with you to soothe and heal any sunburns you might get. Fingers crossed you don’t need, but come prepared.
+ body oils & lotion ⇢ I took so many body oils & lotions, LOL. I LOVE this one body oil.
+ shampoo / conditioner / body wash ⇢ I forgot to bring these but I borrowed a friend’s on our last day & it was sooo nice to have while on our trip—the shampoo / conditioner / body wash there wasn’t that great, so if you’re particular about your hair products and body wash, bring them. Plus it was nice to have a familiar scent from home while on our trip. Weird? I thought it was nice! : )

I also sprayed myself with this toning mist all day, every day. Read more about it here.

Also, quick tip—if you’re packing a blowdryer / straightener / curling iron, consider leaving them at home. I brought all three ( surprise, surprise ), and I used my straightener ONCE, and I didn’t even touch my blowdryer or curling iron. You won’t need them.

Okay, have you been to DR? Anything we should add to the list? Let me know below.

Also, where are you going this summer… Any fun trips? Would love to hear!

Bita

Sunday Splash: Dominican Republic, Puppy Love & Our GIVEAWAY Winner!

Sunday Splash_Dominican Republic, Puppy Love & the GIVEAWAY Winner_Flight to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic_joyfetti.com

[ Our flight into Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. We arrived! ]

Hello, hello, hello—HAPPY SUNDAY!

How’s your day been?

Today was my first Sunday back from DR & it felt soooo good! I was so relaxed, so energized, & so not hungover, which was a really nice change from vacationing in DR. We stayed at a resort with swim-up bars in all the pools, soooo… As you can imagine, it was very easy to get drinks.

AND! … SUPER easy to get to the beach, which I loved. We had a view of the ocean every day at lunch ( it was so incredible ), and we could run back and forth from the pool to the ocean in less than a minute. It was AMAZING.

Sunday Splash_Dominican Republic, Puppy Love & the GIVEAWAY Winner_Punta Cana, Dominican Republic_joyfetti.com

I’m putting together a “What to Pack for Punta Cana” post this week, so stay tuned for that.

&, side note—some of my friends asked me to share some makeup & skincare posts, so stay tuned for more of those in the next few weeks.

I really, really want to know what YOU ( yes, you! ) what to hear about, so please let me know… Comment below, email me ( bita@joyfetti.com ) or let me know on social. I want to hear from you. : )

So… Why was today so relaxing?

It’s all about how I started the day.

I got coffee with a few of my girl friends ( LOVEEE ) this morning, & it was SO nice to catch up with them, get a little caffeine buzz & walk Minty.

I feel like a little get-together with the girls is a MUST, right?! Like water… I need it to survive.

After a 3 hour ( LOL, that’s how I like ’em ) coffee date, I sat myself at the computer where I’ve been working for the past 5-6 hours ( not complaining, I love it—& I took breaks here & there. )

I poured myself a big glass of Kombucha—GT’s Guava Goddess—in a champagne flute, opened a bottle of Pellegrino ( LOL, getting wild ; ) ), put on some Cuban music, and lit a citrus candle.

I switched over to JOYFETTI Playlist — Carefree on Spotify a few hours ago to mix it up.

[ My go-to salad lately ⇢ organic arugula, goat cheese, balsamic vinegar, olive oil, + salt & pepper. So simple & so delicious. ]

The Guava Goddess in the champagne flute looks SO much like a Bellini, right!? I’m kind of into it…

I got a bottle of sauvignon blanc with notes of grapefruit earlier today, & it’s still chilling in the fridge. I just sipped on my Kombucha all day and pretended it was a Bellini. ; ) HAHA. Next time ⇢ definitely GT’s Guava Goddess + champ. YUM!

I had the BEST sauvignon blanc with notes of grapefruit last night, with dinner, so naturally, I picked up a similar bottle so I could have a liiittttle bit more. ; ) I don’t know the name of yesterday’s wine, but I’ll get it for you guys this week so you can try it out if you’d like. It was a-mazingggg.

This week was FULL of doggy play dates and visits to the dog park, which I LOVED! Minty‘s been warming up to dog parks, slowly but surely. She’s making progress, little by little.

I snapped all the fun from yesterday’s dog park, but since we went in the afternoon it’s not in my story anymore, I’m sorry! Follow us on SNAPCHAT so you don’t miss any of the fun. Username ⇢ JOYFETTI

The Most INSANE, AMAZING Grapefruit Mist EVER. I’m Hooked.

The most INSANE, AMAZING Grapefruit Mist EVER. I'm hooked._joyfetti.com

GUYS! My obsession with this product runs DEEP.

I discovered this product when my friend at Yes To gifted it to me to try, & now, I’m HOOOKED.

What is it?

Glad you asked…

Yes To Grapefruit Correct & Repair Pore Perfection Toning Mist.

Kind of a mouthful, I know… They could’ve just called it Grapefruit Heavenly Mist & that’d be that—because I feel so relaxed AND energized whenever I spray it over my face. It just gives me that “AAAAAAHHHH” feeling. You know? Like euphoria. It’s the BEST.

The most INSANE, AMAZING Grapefruit Mist EVER. I'm hooked._Yes To Grapefruit Mist_joyfetti.com

[ My fav! SO obsessed! ]

The most INSANE, AMAZING Grapefruit Mist EVER. I'm hooked._Yes To Grapefruit Mist_grapefruits_joyfetti.com

[ The grapefruit scent makes it super refreshing, which I LOVE. ]

I’ve been spraying it over my face every morning & a few times ( maybe more, haha, definitely more ) throughout the day for months now—never before bed because the citrus smell is super energizing.

Side note… A little tid-bit… I definitely wasn’t a bookworm in middle school nor high school, so sometimes it was a struggle for me to stay up, focus, and get my homework done. Don’t get me wrong, I loved learning ( & still do ) but if a class didn’t spark my interest, I was in trouble. So, I did some research and found citrus smells are a good way to stay up & stay energized… So here’s what I use to do ⇢ I use to peel oranges, tangerines, whatever I could find in the kitchen, and placed the peels alllll over my desk. LOL. It was beautiful… ; ) This mist kind of reminds me of those memories in the BEST WAY POSSIBLE.

Anyways… Since I’m clearly addicted to this mist, I obviously packed it in my suitcase for Dominican Republic ( we went to Punta Cana for 5 days last week ), & shared it with my friends, of course!

I used the mist every morning & throughout the day, especially when I needed to rally for dinner ( because a full day of drinking at the pool & beach can get really tiring, you know? ; ) )

The mist is also super refreshing because it’s infused with vitamin C & gives you a quick jolt of hydration for your skin—which is super necessary in DR. It was HOT!

If you guys haven’t tried it yet, DEFINITELY go to your nearest Target, Walgreens, etc & pick it up, or you can buy it online, here. Easy peasy.

If you’ve tried it, weigh in—should it be called Grapefruit Heavenly Mist? Yes or yes? ; )

XO! Chat soon!
